My comments:

This is the list of books Thomas Jefferson sold to the Library of Congress in 1815 after the British burned the original library housed inside the U.S. Capitol during the War of 1812. Jefferson’s original list that he sent to the Library had been lost, so he had it recreated in 1824 by his secretary and grandson-in-law, Nicholas Philip Trist. This book is a transcription of Trist’s Catalogue using Jefferson’s classification system. Read more about it here.
